Alberta’s nonprofit workforce is comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds, skills and abilities. This mix of talents, perspectives and experiences helps the sector to be effective and dynamic. Aboriginal peoples, mature workers, immigrants, and people with disabilities all experience rewarding careers in our sector but they are often in the minority among our employees. Now more than ever, Alberta’s nonprofit organizations must take intentional steps to attract, develop and retain employees from these currently underrepresented groups.
