Design execution of visual brand, website, and campaign toolkit
Northweather leads the 2023 Alberta NDP campaign strategy, and taps Atom Studio as key design partner.
Northweather, the advertising agency of record for Alberta NDP, engaged Atom Studio to create a revamped brand identity that would visually convey the promise of “a better future” for the province.
In creating Alberta NDP’s new look, Atom borrowed from the provincial flag’s shield icon and motif of mountains and fields, reimagining the party’s existing logo and introducing a broader colour palette of oranges and blues.
The redrawn logo pops with a clear blue sky and gently rolling fields – which can be viewed alternatively as a scenic road leading into a bright future for the province.
Atom also worked closely with Northweather on updating Alberta NDP’s website, making it more user-friendly for candidates in their voter-outreach efforts to ensure that all content aligned with the party’s new brand identity. The designers at Atom also developed formal style guidelines with Northweather for Alberta NDP’s social media and other main channels to maintain consistency of brand across the party’s entire province-wide campaign.

Northweather tapped Atom to help update the party’s website, which served as a central hub for individual candidates to communicate with voters.
Atom designed a template for lawn signs with the party’s fresh logo – leaving plenty of space even for candidates with very long names!
Out of home advertising
Atom produced designs for billboards and bus-stop signage that played an important role in Northweather’s overall strategy.
Alberta NDP’s refreshed brand was incorporated across a broad range of media including video ads.
Atom created a full-body wrap design for opposition leader Rachel Notley’s tour bus, using the party’s optimistic new logo and colour palette and serving as a rolling billboard for the campaign.
Northweather tapped Atom to develop style guidelines for social media and other major channels that maintained consistency of brand across all the party candidates’ campaigns.
For the party convention, Atom designed handheld signs, branded lanyards and name badges for all attendees, as well as t-shirts, stickers and buttons.
